There are four essential components in the Climate Healers framework:

1. Forest Stewards and NGO Partners

2. Cell phones and the Internet,

3. Campus Clubs, and

4. Patrons and Founding Patrons.

The term “Climate Healers” comes from the Forest Stewards, who will be leading a carbon-negative lifestyle while nurturing the forests, since they mainly reside in dark communities without electricity.  Their NGO Partners assist them with technical expertise concerning issues such as soil erosion, plant diseases, etc., while also serving as a liaison between the outside world and the stewards. The NGO partner receives some compensation for work done on behalf of the Climate Healers.

The second component is the ubiquitous  proliferation of cell phone signals and the transparency afforded by the internet.  Using cell phones, we can achieve a quick feedback reward mechanism to keep the forest stewards energized and motivated. With the internet, especially through the use of Google Earth’s satellite images, we aim to monitor the regenerating forests with a high degree of transparency.

The third essential component is the mass networking generation that grew up on the Internet, that NY Times reporter, Andrew Revkin, refers to as Generation “E”. They are school children and college students who are motivated to do something about the environmental degradation that they see all around them and they are seeking an outlet for their energies. Their campus clubs will form the eyes and ears of the

Climate Healers monitoring solar cooker usage in the villages, interacting with the NGO partners and the stewards over cell phones and the internet, while making occasional field trips to the forest sites.

The final stakeholders are the patrons, the  individuals and organizations who provide the resources to execute the solution. At this incipient stage, the Climate Healers have been nurtured by the volunteers who have freely supported the organization in numerous ways. We are grateful for their support and we celebrate their contributions on the headers on our web pages. Going forward, we hope to inspire many individuals and organizations to step forward, sign up to become a Founding Patron or a Patron and participate in this global healing effort.
