COP-21, Paris, France
Paris, France is hosting the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP-21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from Nov 30-Dec 11, 2015. COP-21 is intended to achieve an inclusive international agreement designed to keep average global temperature from rising 2C above the pre-industrial level.
Unfortunately, the agreement is likely to be inadequate as animal agriculture, aviation, shipping and biofuels are off the table during the negotiations. MIT's climate scorecard shows that the Intended Nationally Defined Contributions (INDCs), the voluntary restraints that Nations have proposed for themselves, are likely to cause 3.5C increase in global temperature, even if all the pledges are kept.
